reports. The BUHRC provides an important and heavily-used information
service to the media, including all the major UK radio and television
news services, and others in Europe, the United States, and elsewhere.
News coverage to benefit from BUHRC expertise and informed comment has
included the 1999 Izmit (Turkey) and 2001 Gujarat (India) earthquakes,
the UK October 2000 storms and floods, the 2001 and 2002 eruptions of
Mount Etna, and the future implications of global warming. Education & TrainingBy means of conferences, seminars, workshops and training courses. Recent workshops organised by the Centre focused on European windstorm and the 2002 European floods. The BUHRC also operates a postgraduate certificate course in Natural Hazards for Insurers and a Masters programme in Geophysical Hazards.PublicationsThrough the writing of academic and popular books, together with research papers and articles in academic and professional journals, science magazines and quality newspapers. |
