Launch of ProVention new website

The ProVention Consortium, a global partnership dedicated to reducing the risks and impacts of natural disasters, launches a new website with information on its activities, links to its partners and useful resources for organisations and practitioners active in disaster risk management. ProVention was created by the World Bank in 2000 to help shift the global focus from reactive disaster response to proactive disaster prevention. It provides a forum for global dialogue on disaster risk issues and a framework for collaborative action. The Consortium also functions as an active network for sharing knowledge and promoting research and learning about good practices, tools and resources for reducing disaster risk. The website includes detailed information on ProVention's current activities and resources, such as a toolbox for risk assessment, guidance on mainstreaming risk reduction into development planning, lessons learned on recovery and analysis of private sector engagement and risk transfer solutions.
