Islands”
Dr. Ethan Cochrane (Institute of Archaeology, UCL)
5.30pm Thursday 17th February, 2005
Room 612, Institute of Archaeology, UCL, 31-34 Gordon Sq., London
Abstract: Human populations in the Pacific islands
have witnessed over three thousand years of variation in landscapes,
climates, flora and fauna. Island inhabitants have influenced and
responded to these environmental changes in different ways. This
talk presents a long-term perspective on human-environment relationships
in the Pacific islands highlighting how populations have, or have
not, survived in the face of sometimes dramatic change.
